Leavin’ is easy when no one gives a damn

The Human Condition is a San Francisco string band performing original, modern-day roots music. From rowdy barnstormers and driving road songs to brooding ballads, their sound evokes lazy days and restless nights, high mountain passes and dark city streets. Guitars, mandolin, and upright bass are layered with lush vocal harmonies, fiddle, and a dash of harmonica; a familiar palette cast in new light by innovative songwriting and lyrical imagery.

In their second decade as a band, The Human Condition has refined and expanded their trademark "purplegrass" sound, with current and upcoming releases bringing the energy of their live performances to vinyl and digital formats. Equally at home performing intimate parlor shows and on large stages alongside fully-electric rock acts, T.H.C. has played extensively in the San Francisco Bay Area, around California, and beyond. Notable shows include the Great American Music Hall, Slim's, The Independent, and the Dixie Mattress Festival in Oregon.
